On the first of KCRW's Saturday night pledge nights with Dear Henry, he commented about how becoming a member of KCRW gives people the chance to win tickets to some really amazing shows. Ok, gotcha Hank...we're with you.

He then proceeded to use the (then) upcoming Flaming Lips show at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre and how the radio station had weeks before given away a number of tickets to it as an example. He indicated that he neither had to win nor buy his tickets because HIS GIRLFRIEND bought them for him. This statement followed by the comment of "I'm lucky that beautiful woman apparently like ugly old men".

Hmmmm.

The second Saturday night pledge night he made a similar comment about going out to dinner with his girlfriend a few nights before and meeting her parents for the first time. He indicated that his humor didn't go over quite as well as he would have liked but what the hell. He indicated something about it not being one of those "father making sure the boyfriend has good intentions" type things considering it was pretty much just 4 gray haired people having a meal.

hmmmm part deux.

Any ideas kids? C'mon tell me you're not curious in the least! He's not usually so forthcoming about current relationships and I have to say, I'm curious.

He's dating Liza Richardson the dj who is on after him...I'm pretty sure. He has given lots of clues between the radio show and his dispatches. I was wondering about it too, and the part that really caught my attention was when he said that "she thinks I'm funny," and something to the effect that if he could make her laugh, it really made his day. It sounded so sweet and dorky and not like him at all.

Since he mentioned four grey-haired people sitting at dinner when he met the parents, it probably means his girlfriend is near to his age. Liza is in her mid-40s. She is also very attractive and loves music as much as he does. Here are some clips from the KCRW web site and his dispatches:

"On the way to the Flaming Lips show last week, I listened to a comp. CD that Liza Richardson aka DJ Lizatheparalyza made." (He either mentioned on the show that they drove to the show together in his "mighty Subaru," or I read it somewhere but can't find it now. I doubt he would drive to the show without the woman who bought the tickets).

"Speaking of DJ Lizatheparalyza, she and I were scouring the internets a couple of weeks ago, looking for interesting music and came across mention of an African band from the 1970’s called Amanaz." (Didn't he also mention this last week on the show?)

"Last night, after I got out of the radio show, I went to the big party for Melrose Place. I know someone who works on the show and went with her to check out the scene. The party was held on Melrose place itself. They blocked the damn street and put a party on it. It was a very packed and loud event. I saw one other person wearing Vans besides me. I met a lot of people who were all very nice, stood for a lot of photographs and then after awhile, we left." (Liza is working on the show).

Anyway, she is his age, loves music and is in the industry, has her own career, probably doesn't want kids at this point...it all makes sense and is probably a good match for him and his lifestyle. If you Google her name, she has a Myspace page.

Anyway, that's my guess, and BTW, I'm Salida, and this is my first post to the board!

To be fair, she hasn't logged into her myspace page since 08/11/09...so she could just be otherwise occupied in ways additional the metric fuckton of professional things she appears to be involved in, I mean... ;)
