Hello Henry

Rollins Talking Show Autism/Asperger's Story

I was just reading the chat transcript on the WashingPost and was curious about this reference to Rollins talking about a boy with Asperger's Syndrome at one of his shows.

Irbil, Iraq (Hometown: Tacoma, Wash.): I saw your show in Olympia back in March. Your story about the young boy with Asperger's moved me. My son has Autism so it meant a lot to me. Did he ever email you? Do you still talk to him?

Henry Rollins: I sent him a bunch of music and books and we write often.

Can any one fill me in on what the story is about? I know a few people with AS and are very curious to know what Henry had to say!

My son has non-verbal learning disability (like Aspergers without being in the Autism spetrum), I too would love to hear more about this!

He speaks about this encounter in the Provoked from Melbourne DVD (2008).
It's about meeting a fan after a show, in a similar vein to "Spina Bifida Boy" from Talk is Cheap IV.
It's woven into an excellent larger story about the dangers of cynicism and judging the many by the actions of the few.
