Community for Henry Rollins Fans

Ok... so every year, my sister's brother-in-law organizes a talent show in our community/subdivision (where I live is a subdivision sitting around a huge man-made lake that has become it's own little town of sorts out in the middle of nowhere). Whether I like it or not, I am guilted into being in it to help pad the show with something of substance (a lot of the "acts" are little girls that get up and sing over a Hannah Montana cd or something talent-lacking like that). I usually sing something from my sister's karaoke cd collection... just to make them all happy and get them off my back for a year.

This year, my shy-like-you-have-no-idea 9 year old son announced to me out of the blue that he wanted to perform in the talent show. I had no idea what talent he was going to tell me he wanted to perform.... but I know him and he usually doesn't understand what is considered a "talent" for shows l like this (he might say he wants to get up and show everyone how well he can play Super Mario Galaxy or something like that). But he told me that he wanted to sing.... SING!?!?!?! Reeally!?!?

My son has found the wonderful world of video games... and the wonderful world of people who show you how to cheat on them via the internets... especially on YouTube. I think my son spends equal amounts of time playing the games as he does watching YouTube videos about said games! Sometimes these videos show how to cheat or get around things in the games.... and sometimes they are music videos of sorts.. showing level run-throughs with fast-action music dubbed over it. My son has fallen in love with the music contained in these vids.

So.. I ask him, "What exactly do you want to sing in the talent show?"
His answer made my heart both swell and sink simultaneously:
"I wanna sing "What's The Matter Man" from the Best Super Monkey Ball video on YouTube."

crap.

I have to thus try to explain to him in the car that this is not a possible thing. He tells me to go look it up on the internets and find the music for it. I tell him that I don't have to go look anything up, I already know there is NO KARAOKE VERSION of this song. How do you explain to a wide-eyed 9 year old that even though we think that Rollins Band rocks like no other... the rest of the world has no idea who the hell he is and that you are lucky to just barely be able to find his cds in the cds shops.. let alone a KARAOKE VERSION of one of his songs.... that even though "Liar" was pretty freaking popular, that Henry Rollins is, for the most part, so obsure in the music world that no one has even given thought to making a karaoke version of any of his songs... aside from the fact that if there ever was a karaoke version made of any of his songs, he'd be rolling over in his grave prematurely!!!!!

This just sucks! I've heard my son singing along with my cd (which he was thrilled to find out I had after he fell in love with the song on YouTube. I immediately recognized the song and informed my son, to his extreme delight, that iTunes was not needed.. I did, indeed, have this song in my collection!). My son rocks singing this song. He mirrors, in all his little boy, high-pitched glory, every inflection and nuance of Henry's performance. You have no idea how much I would have loved to have been able to dress my skinny little 9 year old up and send him up on stage to spread the Word of Hank to the masses... or at least look around at their stunned faces when he unleased the fury. lol

But.. it is not to be. So, I finally convinced him to settle for "Worlds Collide" by Powerman 5000... since that seems to be the only song I could find in karaoke version.

But it still sucks. :(
