Well... I have been going to school for almost 7 years now (to acquire a flipping 2 year degree... don't ask). Anyway, I have had a hard time trying to figure out what the heck I can and want to do once I graduate (unfortunately that won't be until next spring!!! :( *sniff sniff* ). I love photography and hope that I will be able to really do some things with it. But at this point in my life, I can not afford to attend one of the two schools in this area that offer further degrees in my field. ($3,000 a semester!?!?! YIKES)

So.. I have tried to be a bit more realistic... what can I do with an associate's degree in computer graphic design? I have no idea. A whole lot of things.

One thing that occurred to me a little over a year ago is that I think teaching a class in either Photoshop or photography would be fun and rewarding. But I have no idea what I would need to do in order to pursue that track. So today I finally broke down and asked Steve, my instructor/advisor/department head what I need to do in order to teach. Turns out it is pretty simple:

Graduate. Yep, he told me that once I graduate he would be quite happy to hire me as an ad junct instructor at my school in something along the lines of Intro. Photoshop or Intro Digital Photography!!!! Since I have been a student under him for so long, he knows what my grades are like and better yet what I am capable of and he said that he thinks aside from that that I am not afraid to talk in front of people and that he thinks I can do the job nicely. :DDDDD WOO HOO!!!

So.... I hope that over the next year I will get through the remaining classes and hopefully in May of 2010 there will be an opening for me to step up and become an instructor at Lewis and Clark Community College. It's a step at least, right!?

I had thought about it, but I do not know very much about doing stock photography. My friend Paul has been pursuing that and it seems everytime he gets things in order and uploads a bunch of photographs, the site goes out of business and he has to start all over again... I am seeing a trend there... moral of the story: Do not become a member of a stock photography company that accepts Paul as a member!! lol

Seriously.. I had thought about it, just have not done very much research.... yet. ;)

Hey Zander, that sounds like a great opportunity!
have you ever tried selling your photos online on stock photography sites like istockphoto? could be a nice little side earner :)
